Ian joined the Planning and Research team in Aberdeen in July 2019 whilst finishing his studies in MSc City Planning and Real Development at the University of Glasgow - a joint RTPI-RICS accredited postgraduate degree. He assists with a broad range of planning projects for clients across North East Scotland and will begin preparing his assessment of professional competence to become a charted town planner after his graduation.
Before joining Ryden, Ian graduated in MA Geography from the University of Aberdeen and worked for two years as a planner with Aberdeenshire Council, where he worked on a variety of rural and urban developments across various application types. This included planning applications, applications to modify planning conditions, listed building consent applications, conservation area consent applications, hazardous substances consent applications and more. He also has experience in planning appeal work, public consultation, discharging planning conditions and policy analysis. Ian has an excellent knowledge of planning in Scotland, which he looks forward to building on through his work with Ryden and our clients.
