Michael Lorimer

Partner, Planning

Michael is a Chartered Town Planner with over 15 years of experience working within both the public and private sectors in the North East of Scotland. He joined Ryden in 2013 having previously worked as a Senior Planner for Aberdeenshire Council.

He was promoted to Partner in May 2018 and is the Head of Planning within Ryden’s Aberdeen Office.

Michael’s experience spans a diverse range of projects, with a proven record of securing permission for complex housing, commercial and mixed-use developments. He also acts for a number of public sector clients including the University of Aberdeen, Local Authorities and NHS Grampian.

PROJECTS:

Countesswells Consortium – Countesswells, Aberdeen Planning consultancy advice to Development Framework and Phase 1 Masterplan for the new settlement at Countesswells. Stakeholder consultation and delivery of Planning Permission in Principle for 3,000 homes and 10ha of employment land. Secured Detailed Consent for Phase 1 Infrastructure and a number of Matters Specified in Conditions (MSC) applications for Countesswells Development Ltd.

Land at Broxden, Perth Planning consultant for mixed use development comprising office headquarters building, drive throughs and sustainable refuelling station o behalf of West Coast Estates Ltd.

Broadford Works, Aberdeen Secured Planning Permission and Listed building consent on behalf of Ferness Investment Holdings Ltd for the major redevelopment of Aberdeen’s Broadford Works Category A-Listed former mill complex, to create a sustainable mixed-use urban village incorporating 460 private rented flats, 430 student beds and commercial space.

Greenferns & Greenferns Landward Providing planning consultancy advice in relation to planning permission in principle applications and associated Masterplans for circa 3,000 homes and mix of uses for Aberdeen City Council on two of their strategic greenfield housing sites.

Hill of Banchory East, Banchory Detailed Planning Permission for James Kieller Property Holdings Ltd for major new retail park at Banchory.
