Our people

Ruaridh Cameron, Surveyor, Glasgow

"I have been a member of the office and industrial agency teams in Glasgow for the past two years. I applied for the job because Ryden is, and continues to be, the market leader in these areas despite facing strong competition from multinational companies.

I like the fact the firm punches above its weight due to a combination of hard work, excellent customer service and expertise.

My days are a combination of conducting property viewings with prospective tenants and talking with clients, solicitors and other agents. I manage the letting and sales process from start to finish and enjoy getting out to meet new people rather than being sat at my desk all day. I also enjoy negotiating lease terms and, as the only graduate in two teams working directly with four Partners, I’ve gained invaluable experience working on some of the most high profile projects in Glasgow."

Grant Jamieson, Project Manager, Aberdeen

"I joined Ryden as it’s a renowned and respected company in Aberdeen and across Scotland. There’s a relaxed atmosphere here, which creates an enjoyable working environment. You are made to feel that you are contributing to the company's goals and aspirations.

Being a Project Manager allows every day to be different which keeps my job extremely interesting. One day I can find myself on a construction site wearing my PPE, the next day I can be chairing a high end client/developer meeting fully suited.

The Project Management team ranges from graduates to partners with over 30 years’ experience and there are opportunities to progress through the company and develop my career. Despite being the only Project Manager in our Aberdeen office at the moment I feel close to the teams in other departments because of the level of support I receive."

Maisie Scruton, Graduate Surveyor, Leeds

"I completed a RICS accredited degree in Real Estate at Sheffield Hallam University and joined Ryden in early 2019. Working here offers experience in a range of specialities including commercial agency, investment agency, valuation, landlord & tenant and property management. That’s really important for a graduate aiming to complete their APC.

Ryden’s reputation for high quality service appealed to me. I like to make sure our clients are well informed about their properties and to work closely with my colleagues, we often socialise outside of work and attend networking events together.

Ryden is different to work for than other places I have been because they make a real effort to make everyone feel valued, no matter what stage you are in your career. Asking questions is encouraged. It’s a really good learning environment."

Jack Chandler, Graduate Apprentice, Edinburgh

"I’m a Graduate Apprentice which entails a 5 year programme working towards a University Degree and ultimately achieving my APC. I joined Ryden for the atmosphere I first experienced in my interview when applying for the job – cheerfulness and a sense of community. Not only this, Ryden is widely known locally and nationally with the firm being respected for its experience and knowledge across the market.

Despite being straight from school I feel part of each team I work in and feel respected by my colleagues. It’s made clear that anyone can be asked anything, everyone wants to help and offer advice if needed.

The Graduate Apprenticeship structure allows me to ‘earn as I learn’ with block release to University. I am on rotation around the departments, spending a number of months in each. I hope that this will provide me with the best possible groundings for my career at Ryden as I can use knowledge from all aspects of the business in future work."
