Work is underway on the build of Aberdeen’s first Costa Coffee drive-thru which will be located in Tullos on the corner of Abbotwell Road and Wellington Road.
Ryden identified the potential of the 0.5 acre vacant site for new development and advised development and investment firm West Coast Estates on its purchase in February 2016 from oilfield services company Schlumberger which had previously occupied the building.
Aberdeen City Council subsequently granted planning permission for the site's transformation into a drive-thru facility, a scheme which won widespread backing from the local community.
Ryden’s project management team in Aberdeen, led by Partner Douglas Garden, is now managing the demolition of the existing building and the erection of the new build Costa Coffee store. The £2 million development is expected to create 20 jobs.
Paul Richardson, Agency Partner with Ryden said: “There are lots of sites across Aberdeen that with a bit of imagination and effort could be regenerated. This was a challenging site for several reasons but by working in partnership with West Coast Estates and the local community we now have a development that will rejuvenate the site and will add an excellent amenity to Tullos and the south side of Aberdeen.”
Project Manager Douglas Garden added: "It is great to be involved in project managing such an exciting development. The demolition phase is already underway and we hope to commence the construction works in July 2017. I will look forward to enjoying a double espresso when it is all done and the store launches, hopefully, later this year."
