Planning application approved to deliver further homes and retail space to Countesswells in Aberdeen

Following the approval of a joint planning application with CHAP Homes, Countesswells Development Limited is set to construct 85 residential units and three retail units within Countesswells, Aberdeen as part of the approved masterplan. Ryden will provide project monitoring services on this development on behalf of the funder, Santander.

Construction of these new homes on the award-winning development is expected to begin in September 2018, with sales expected from December 2018 and first residents expected to move in from early 2019.

Phased in over 15 years, Countesswells will ultimately accommodate 7,000 people in 3,000 new private and affordable homes. The 407-acre site will feature expansive green spaces, parklands and civic spaces, together with modern community infrastructure, such as health facilities, commercial and retail space and hyper-fast broadband – 35 times faster than the UK average.

Douglas Garden

Douglas joined the Ryden partnership in 2017 and heads up the Project & Building Consultancy team in Aberdeen.  Prior to joining Ryden, he was a partner in charge of Knight Frank’s Aberdeen Building Consultancy department for 12 years.

He provides a wide range of clients with advice on: design, project management, project monitoring, contract administration, building surveys, dilapidation and planned preventative maintenance. 

Doug has considerable experience in project management / monitoring, space utilisation and architectural design.  He also has a proven track record in handling dilapidations work for both landlords and tenants.
