Henderson Global Investors re-launches the Mercantile Building, Glasgow

25 March 2014

The Mercantile Building in Glasgow is set to be formally re-launched onto the marketplace at an event this Thursday (27 March).

The event marks the completion of the first phase of a comprehensive £2m refurbishment project, which involved the renovation of the 2nd and 6th floor and upgrading of common parts, including the entrance and reception foyer.

Owners Henderson Global Investors also has cause for further celebration after letting agent Ryden signed up two new tenants for suites on the 2nd floor.  The occupiers are Arriva Trains, one of the largest transport organisations in Europe, and Troop Bywaters & Anders, a consulting building services engineer firm which is opening their first Glasgow office.  The new tenants signed up for 1,026 sq ft and 401 sq ft respectively.  Quoting rent for space on the 2nd floor is £25 per sq ft.

Tim Jacobsen, associate at letting agents Ryden, noted: “We have signed up eight new tenants at the Mercantile Building since Henderson Global Investors purchased the property last year.  This success is a direct result of our client’s commitment to upgrading the building and providing all-inclusive flexible leasing and rental offers.  We continue to receive good levels of occupier interest in the building and I’m confident we will be announcing further lettings in due course.”

Ryden act on behalf of Henderson Global Investors and report to Asset Managers Denwolf Asset Management and London and Devonshire Trust.
