  • Advised in the preparation of plans for the sustainable regeneration of each town centre.
  • Provided residential, business space, retail and leisure market context for each town.
  • Assessed type and scale of development and estimated floor space outputs for redevelopment sites within the masterplan options.
  • Calculated investment values and identified site ownerships to inform the selection of the preferred options for each town.

Client: University of Edinburgh
  • Achieved the allocation of land for the expansion of the Easter Bush Estate within the green belt in the Midlothian Local Plan.
  • Advised on the production of the Easter Bush Development Framework, providing the site with a 20 year vision to ensure a coherent approach to its development.
  • Presented the Framework to Architecture & Design Scotland. The document was subsequently adopted by Midlothian Council and will inform the consideration of future planning applications on the estate.

  • Secured outline planning permission without the need for a public local inquiry.
  • Advised on the discharge of outline planning conditions.
  • Negotiated the Section 75 legal agreement.
  • Secured approval of the CBR masterplan.
  • Secured reserved matters planning permission for Phase 1 infrastructure works.
  • Provided valuations of the site at the pre-acquisition stage and the post-installation stage of the infrastructure.
  • Advised on planning aspects of the first multi-occupancy building.
