  • Established the planning strategy for the EBRC.
  • Project managed a diverse range of sub-consultants.
  • Submitted the planning application for the building with an ambitious design inspired by the shape and colour of chromosomes and DNA fins.
  • Successfully overcame landscape and ecology challenges to deliver consent within tight timescale.
  • Assisted in meeting planning conditions on SUDS and upgraded transport infrastructure.
  • Ensured close working with the University of Edinburgh, the landowner.

 

MRC Centre

MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine, Edinburgh BioQuarter Centre for stem cell research. The development is now on site.

  • Established a planning strategy that minimised the amount of time the application required for determination, thus protecting the interests of our client.
  • Co-ordinated a wide range of sub-consultants.
  • Liaised with the City of Edinburgh Council to ensure continuous dialogue and rapid responses to any arising issues.
  • Achieved planning consent within a short and fixed timescale.
  • Advised on the discharge of planning conditions.

 

St Boswells Livestock Centre
Property: Auction Mart Site
Site of approximately 9.6 hectares on eastern edge of Newtown St Boswells
Client: John Swan Ltd
  • Identified the auction mart site as a development opportunity.
  • Contributed to Scottish Borders Council’s development brief for the site.
  • In conjunction with client and an Edinburgh based architecture practice, prepared a detailed masterplan for development of houses, a new village green, a renovated octagon building and a new health centre.
  • Obtained planning consent subject to Section 75 agreement.
  • Currently negotiating Section 75 contributions with Scottish Borders Council as part of discussions regarding long term expansion of the town.

 

7 Quarrywood Court

Property: 7 Quarrywood Court, Livingston
2,283 sq ft property
Client: Olympus Keymed
  • Established a planning strategy that would increase the appeal of the unit. It had been unsuccessfully marketed for over a year with Class 4 (Office) consent.
  • Identified that an office unit at this location was likely to remain vacant and demonstrated demand for Class 2 (Professional) use.
  • Applied for restricted Class 2 (Professional) consent.
  • Negotiated consent with West Lothian Council.
  • Currently marketing the unit to a wider range of businesses and users.

 

Hartwood
Property: Former Hartwood Hospital
Proposed redevelopment of c. 60 hectares strategic housing site containing listed buildings
Client: NHS Lanarkshire
  • Identified key opportunities and constraints which would influence the future development of the site.
  • Recommended and agreed a planning strategy with client.
  • Identified supporting information required for the Local Plan submission and planning application.
  • Project managed sub-consultants.
  • Submitted formal objection to the emerging North Lanarkshire Local Plan.

Property: Former Brick Factory, Tannochside
Proposed redevelopment of significant industrial site
Client: Ibstock (Scottish) Brick Ltd
  • Identified the site as a residential development opportunity.
  • Adopted a two pronged planning strategy submission to the emerging Local Plan and also submission of planning application.
  • Prepared a comprehensive Planning Statement and Employment Land Study.
  • Preparing a planning framework for the site covering issues such as transport, noise and drainage.
  • Promoting the redevelopment of the site through the planning process.

 

BP Masterplan
Property: Former BP North Sea Headquarters, Dyce
15 acre site plus additional surplus landholdings
Client: Goodman
  • Advised on redevelopment options for the site following BP’s relocation.
  • Secured planning consent for residential development on plot A of the site.
  • Marketed and sold vacant industrial units on plot D resulting in 100% occupancy for new owners.
  • Providing advice on the development of the remaining plots.

 

North West Aboyne
Property: Land to North West Aboyne, Aberdeenshire
55.71 hectares agricultural site
Client: Aberdeenshire Council
  • Identified the site as a development opportunity.
  • In conjunction with client and local architecture practice prepared a detailed masterplan for a 25-year development of 500 houses, primary school, commercial facilities, allotments and recreation areas.
  • Prepared and submitted a development bid.
  • Presented at public consultation events to discuss the indicative masterplan proposals.
  • Promoting the site throughout the Aberdeenshire Council Local Development Plan process.

 

Rowett Estate
Property: Rowett Estate, Bucksburn, Aberdeen
Land to the north and south of the A96 at Bucksburn, covering c. 210 hectares
Client: University of Aberdeen
  • Reviewed the Draft Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan and submitted representations on behalf of client, which influenced the Finalised Structure Plan that has now been approved by Scottish Ministers.
  • Prepared and submitted two development bids highlighting the suitability of this land for development through the Aberdeen City Local Development Plan.
  • Prepared indicative masterplans for inclusion in the development bids.
  • Prepared material for display at Aberdeen City Council’s public consultation events and attended those events.
  • Promoting both sites throughout the Aberdeen City Local Development Plan process.
