  • Provided initial planning advice on a strategy to have the site identified as a development opportunity for residential and mixed use in the Local Plan.
  • Acted as expert witness at the Local Plan Inquiry to ensure appropriate designations in the Local Plan.
  • Marketed the availability of the site to identify a potential purchaser or joint development partner. 
  • Entered into detailed discussions with short listed parties resulting in identification of preferred bidder Consortium. 
  • Negotiated the general terms of a development agreement in association with solicitors, ensuring client obtained maximum value and participated in future growth potential.
  • Advised on the content of planning gain and negotiations with the Council, including the terms of Section 75 (S75) legal agreement.

  • Advised on the rationalisation of the University’s current academic, research and student residence developments.
  • Providing consultation on the Western Expansion Area, the largest mix-use development in St Andrews.
  • Advising on negotiations on policies affecting affordable housing, student accommodation and houses in multiple occupation.
  • Providing submissions on the structure plan and the local plan.
  • Advising on planning appeals, public inquiries and disposal strategies for properties and land.
  • Assisting in disposing of properties and investing in new academic developments and student accommodation to replace existing facilities.

  • Assessed planning potential of existing site.
  • Assisted in the selection of a joint venture partner for the new development.
  • Worked with the partners to secure planning consent for two new Grade A office buildings.
  • Obtained forward funding for the development from Credit Suisse EuroReal.
  • Provided marketing advice on the new development.
