Ryden Brings Former Woolies Stores onto the Market

03 February 2009

Ryden has been appointed as sole letting agent for four former Woolworths stores on Scotland’s High Streets.

The units are located at Lothian Road, Edinburgh; Lochee, Dundee; Cowdenbeath; and North Berwick and provide 20,759 sq ft, 12,976 sq ft, 10,812 sq ft and 7,046 sq ft of retail space respectively.

Will Biggart of Ryden said: “I’m confident that we’ll find new occupiers for each of these stores. We’ve only just started marketing and have already received strong interest from local and national retailers, particularly those at the value/discount end, desperate to breathe life into the high streets.”

He added: “Large retail units don't become available often and it's a chance for some new interesting companies to acquire sites in these towns."

Ryden was instructed by landlord PPG to market the store on Lothian Road and by landlord Sengaze Ltd for the other three.

Woolworths went into administration at the end of November, with the last of its stores closing in January.
