TIF Funding approved for Falkirk Council
4 November 2011
Falkirk Council’s competitive bid to fund infrastructure worth around £52 million using Tax Incremental Funding (TIF) has secured pilot status.
Dr Mark Robertson of Ryden has assisted Falkirk Council in presenting a robust outline business case to the Scottish Government.
He says: “We welcome the Scottish Government's approval of the TIF business case based upon our property market and economic analysis and advice to Falkirk Council. It will be a major economic boost for the area. The project could unlock around £528m in construction investment and create over 5,000 local jobs in key sectors such as chemical, manufacturing and distribution.”
TIF will help to pay for major infrastructure projects including improvements to the Avon Gorge A801 road; improvements at Westfield Roadabout/A904; and Grangemouth flood defences and developments around the M9 corridor.
