Ryden is the Most Active Agent in Glasgow

1 November 2011

The latest statistics complied by EGi have reaffirmed Ryden’s leading position in Glasgow after the firm was named Overall Most Active Agent in Glasgow for the ninth consecutive year. The win is based on the total number of deals transacted between October 2010 and September 2011 across all commercial property sectors.

EGi’s findings show that despite a difficult economic climate, Ryden has grown its market share in Glasgow by c. 2.5% during the year to September 2011 and handled more deals than any of its competitors, equivalent to a 24% market share.

Ryden handled over 34% of all office deals in the city, whilst its closest competitor claimed 19%. A key transaction the firm was involved in included acting for Stockland in respect of Scottish & Southern Energy’s purchase of One Waterloo Street (5,477 sq m) for owner-occupation.

Turning to the industrial market, the firm was responsible for 25% of the city’s transactions. A significant deal involved leasing The Point, Gourock to James Walker Engineering. The building, extending to 8,236 sq m, was developed on Enterprise Zone land and was designed for the electronics' industry but failed to attract an occupier. Ryden was appointed to instigate a sustained and innovative marketing effort which culminated in the identification of two serious interests and subsequent deal. The letting was the largest industrial transaction in Inverclyde in a decade.

Ewan Cameron, managing partner of Ryden’s Glasgow office commented: “To win this accolade for the ninth year in a row is an excellent endorsement for our business.  It reflects the hard work, dedication and consistent level of service provided by our agency teams and is recognition of our ability to produce results for our clients whatever the financial climate.”
