Work starts on Gilcomston’s £2m Raiths development

13 December 2010

Gilcomston Investments Ltd has begun development of two speculative industrial units at Raiths Industrial Estate, Pitmedden Road, Dyce, Aberdeen.  The £2 million project, designed by Halliday Fraser Munro, is being constructed by Stewart Milne Construction. Ryden, as retained agents for Gilcomston, is the sole marketing agent.

The development will provide 1,314 sq m (14,143 sq ft) of industrial/warehouse space, 540 sq m (5,812 sq ft) of offices, plus 1,446 sq m (1,729 sq yds) of concrete yardage. Both warehouses will have a minimum eaves height of six meters and have electronically operated steel roller shutter doors.  The open plan offices will be decorated to high standards with comfort cooling and DDA compliant passenger lifts. It is expected that the units will be ready for occupation in summer 2011.

Nearby occupiers at Raiths Industrial Estate include Global Energy Group (also signed up by Ryden on behalf of Gilcomston), Weatherford, Speedy Services, Well Ops (UK) Ltd, Pentagon and Freight Services.

Paul Richardson, associate at letting agent Ryden said: “Despite the fact that we’re only at an early stage of marketing, we’ve already received a high level of interest in the units. This reinforces that the Aberdeen industrial market remains buoyant due to the rising price of oil and the currentlack of good quality industrial accommodation on the market. I’m confident that we will find occupiers for both units, as Dyce is ideally located next to Aberdeen airport and is the premier industrial location in the city."

Gilcomston Investments extensive portfolio of properties is actively managed by Ryden.
