Ryden Raises Over £6k for Maggie's

12 January 2009

Ryden has presented its charity partner Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres with a cheque for £6,084.63 this month. The cash was raised after teams took part in the charity’s 3rd annual Edinburgh and Glasgow 10-mile Life Walks and will go towards helping Maggie's centre users live with, through and beyond cancer.

22 Ryden staff, including their friends and family, participated in the walk around Edinburgh and 30 took part in the event in Glasgow, of which Ryden was the headline sponsor.

Fiona Morton, Managing Partner at Ryden, who joined in on both walks said: “The Life Walks offer access to fun, healthy and effective fundraising events to individuals of all levels of fitness. Despite atrocious weather the Glasgow walk in particular inspired the Ryden team to ‘dig deep’ to support the great work Maggie's does”.

This latest fundraising has brought the overall amount that the firm has donated to Maggie's to over £33,000 since their partnership began with the charity in summer 2007.  Staff at all of Ryden’s six offices have contributed to raising this fantastic total by participating in a wide range of activities, from Maggie’s own Monster Bike & Hike to quiz nights, competitions, raffles and dress down days – all of which were spurred on by the firm’s social responsibility committee.

Grant Yuill, Maggie's Corporate Partnerships Coordinator, commented: “Cancer affects us all at some point in our lives, whether as a patient, carer, friend or family member, and this is why Maggie's has such a valuable role in providing information and psychological and emotional support.  Since our partnership with Ryden began the firm has raised over £33,000, which covered the costs of 1,250 visits to our centres in 2008, which is quite incredible. The generosity and time that Ryden has given to Maggie's over the past 18 months has not only raised vital funds but has also raised awareness across the UK.”
