Rating Appeal Achieves Significant Saving For Napier University
28 January 2009
Ryden, acting on behalf of Napier University, Edinburgh, has recently negotiated savings in rateable valuations totalling in excess of £400,000 following a successful rating appeal for the University's various buildings throughout the city.
The saving was backdated to 1 April 2005, the year of the rating revaluation. The value amendments will remain in effect until the next revaluation, scheduled as from 1 April 2010.
The saving in rates was brought about by discussions between Ryden, and a number of other surveyors and the Scottish Assessors over the valuation of universities and colleges throughout Scotland. Ryden then negotiated the values applicable to each campus.
Patrick Hughes, Director of Facilities Services at Napier University, said: "These significant savings will enable further funds to be made available for educational facilities and assist in the funding of future developments”.
