Planning Appeal Win at Faulds Park
13 August 2010
After extra time, a planning application has been won to turn an empty building in Gourock into an indoor sports centre. Property consultants Ryden successfully appealed to local members who then overturned a decision by Council officials and approved the proposal to turn “The Point” in Faulds Park into a leisure sports facility. The building could be converted into a facility for a variety of sports uses and has the capacity to hold nine indoor football pitches.
Ged Hainey, Planning Associate of Ryden said “I am very pleased the members agreed with our view that the building would be ideal for a variety of leisure uses to benefit the residents of Inverclyde. The facility will attract a wide range of residents, from children and young people interested in getting involved in competitive sports to local professional clubs looking for a local training resource.”
Jeremy Sandle of Nightingale Estates, the property advisor to the owners of the building said “We are absolutely delighted to have secured approval for sports use and we will be seeking sports organisers interested in using the centre. We plan to research local interest in all types of options including football, tennis and club training facilities as the building is large enough to provide a mixture of facilities. Our aim is to have the building in use by this winter.”
Ryden is also acting as agent for the property. If you are interested in finding out more about making use of it as a sports facility call Alan Gilkison at Ryden on 0141 204 3838.
