New Saltire House Office Development Begins

31 March 2010

J. Smart & Co (Contractors) Plc has commenced construction of their latest office development, Saltire House, at 3 Whitefriars Business Park in Perth.

Saltire House will comprise a two storey office pavilion with striking modern design and a high level specification to suit all modern office occupiers.  It will extend to 9,935 sq ft, with flexibility to be split into four suites from 2,465 sq ft. 40 on-site car spaces will also be available. The building’s size is ideal for occupiers looking for an office to house between 20 and 100 people.

The development, which will be available to lease from joint letting agents Ryden and Graham & Sibbald by late 2010, is being constructed on one of the last sites within Whitefriars Business Park. Nearby occupiers include Perth & Kinross Council, Diatech Scotland and Tayside Valuation Joint Board.

Duncan Tait of developer J. Smart & Co said: "We have identified Perth as a strong business location with a lack of high quality, centrally located, office accommodation for modern occupiers.  Despite the tough market conditions we are confident in strong demand for this product at the present time to justify the speculative development of Saltire House."

Hamish Sutherland at Ryden commented: “Whitefriars Business Park is located on the edge of Perth City Centre, just off the Glasgow Road and a short walk from the train station.  This location is ideal for occupiers who want to move out of traditional accommodation that is no longer fit for the purpose, but who still want to be close to the city centre.”

Keith Scobbie of Graham & Sibbald added: "We experienced strong levels of interest in Saltire House as soon as we obtained Planning Consent and confirmed a site start date.  Starting this development during the Perth 800 year shows the continued strength of the city."
