Four former Woolworths stores under offer

06 August 2009

Ryden has four former Woolworth stores under offer.

Three of the stores are owned by a private landlord and are located on the Lochee High Street in Dundee, Cowdenbeath High Street and North Berwick High Street.  All of the stores encompass three floors totalling 12,976 sq ft in Dundee, 10,812 sq ft in Cowdenbeath and 7,046 sq ft in North Berwick.  The fourth store is the 20,759 sq ft unit at 142 Lothian Road, Edinburgh.

Ryden has also just been appointed to let a fifth store in Prestwick.  There has already been strong interest from local and national retailers.

The news comes after research, recently published by the Local Data Company, found that seven out of ten former Woolworths stores are still vacant six months down the line from the last Woolworths shop closing.

Will Biggart from Ryden, commented: “We are instructed to let five of the former Woolworths stores in difficult market conditions and we are delighted to have four of those stores under offer.  Bringing new tenants into these stores will help boost local neighbourhood shopping areas which have suffered since Woolworths closed.  We are hopeful for the same success in Prestwick which is already looking encouraging."
