Scottish & Southern's New Base at Swillington

Scottish and Southern Energy Plc has purchased a 28,755 sq ft (2,671 sq m) industrial unit at Astley Lane Industrial Estate in Swillington after having secured a 25-year street lighting contract with Leeds City Council.With commercial property firm Ryden acting, Scottish and Southern acquired the freehold interest in the former Cooper Lighting and Security Unit which sits on a site of around 2.47 acres. The property acquisition is in conjunction the new street lighting contract which will see Scottish and Southern replace and maintain street lighting throughout the city of Leeds. Southern Electric Contracting will deliver the project under a 25 year PFI agreement. Replacement works will commence in July 2006.The vendor, Menvier Amberlec Systems Limited, was represented by Donaldsons and Martingale CRE Limited.
