21st November
Ryden has advised Leeds-based QHotels Group during its acquisition of independent hotel chain Marston Hotels in a £180million deal. The purchase of the group grows QHotels’ portfolio from 9 hotels to 21. Property advisor Ryden acted for Q Hotels in providing pre-acquisition building surveying advice on all 12 Marston Hotels. Ryden’s Leeds office managed the instruction with involvement from colleagues from Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. Andrew Cliff, head of building consultancy in Ryden’s Leeds office said: "We surveyed the entire hotel portfolio which involved inspecting and reporting on all the premises. It is an interesting and varied one, ranging from Crewe Hall which is Grade 1 Listed, to The Nottingham Belfry which is only a year old. I drew on the skills and national resources of our Building Consultancy Group to deliver results within QHotels' timescale." QHotels Group’s flagship hotels included The Midland in Manchester, The Queens in Leeds and Chesford Grange in Warwick and but its portfolio quickly expanded to 9 prestigious 4-star deluxe hotels around the UK. The acquisition of Marston Hotels is the next stage of QHotels’ planned investment and growth in the hotel industry.
