Peebles Bus Depot Sold for Development

Ryden, acting on behalf of First Group plc, has confirmed the sale of the former bus depot at Innerleithen Road , Peebles, to McCarthy & Stone plc. McCarthy & Stone has obtained planning consent for 21 sheltered housing units and development will commence shortly. The depot provided 11,107 sq ft (1,032 sq m) on a site of 0.287 of a hectare (0.71 of an acre) close to the town centre of Peebles, an attractive Borders town famed for its knitwear and Peebles Hydro Hotel. It is within commuting distance of Edinburgh (22 miles) and has attracted a considerable number of new residential developments over the past few years. The price paid was not disclosed but it is understood that Ryden was seeking offers in the region of £1 million.
