New Homes to Boost Muir of Ord

18th July 2007

A £3 million land sale in Muir of Ord is set to bring around 73 homes to the area, according to property consultants Ryden. The firm has just sold the site, known as The Maltings, with detailed planning consent to developers Glen Homes.

Ryden has a long-running involvement with the 9.8 acre serviced site; as well as recently marketing the land, the firm has provided ongoing project management services. It sits next to Glen Ord distillery and modern housing developments.

Andrew Wilson, associate at Ryden, said that he is pleased to see the site being developed. He acted for receivers Ernst & Young after Firbrae Ltd, the previous owner of the site, went into receivership. He said: “Glen Homes will benefit from the healthy interest shown by prospective purchasers - many have been eagerly awaiting the release of the next phase of new housing on the site. Indeed, the site itself was popular with us having received over half a dozen bids for the land.”

Directors of Glen Homes said the considerable interestfrom potential purchasers could have part fuelled by the firm's offer to sell prior to construction.  Many sites have been reserved off-plan and development of the first phase of 20 houses is well underway.  Glen Homes’ Affric Showhouse will becompleted in September.

Ryden acted jointly in the land sale with Graham & Sibbald.
