Braid Church & Church Halls in the heart of Morningside, Edinburgh For Sale

29 September 2008

Ryden, acting on behalf of The Church of Scotland, has confirmed it is about to start marketing the Braid Church and Church Halls at 1 Nile Grove/Hermitage Terrace off Morningside Road, Edinburgh.

The Braid Church is no longer used by The Church of Scotland, as a few years ago the congregation of Morningside Braid merged with the Cluny Parish Church to form a united congregation known as Morningside Parish Church. Thereafter the church at the corner of Cluny Gardens and Braid Road became the centre of worship.

The Braid Church is a two storey classical octagon shaped church built in 1886 at a cost of £5,500.  Adjacent and adjoining to the north are two church halls built in 1899.  The property is B Listed.   The total accommodation provided by the buildings is 813 sq m (8,749 sq ft) and the total site area is 0.545 acres (0.221 hectares).  There is also room for expansion with an undeveloped area of land on the east side of the church in Nile Grove.

The property is suitable for continued religious use or for alternative uses including education, performing arts, medical, offices, residential, leisure, restaurant, hotel etc.

It is anticipated that the Braid Church and Church Halls will be available to new occupiers in Spring 2010.
