Another Tenant Takes A Bite Out Of Commercial Quay

21 October 2008

GE Real Estate has announced the latest letting at the mixed-use Commercial Quay in Leith to Drake Dental Care, who plans to open a new dental practice within the property.

The firm has taken a new lease of 1,900 sq ft at Suite 80/1b at a rent of £30,400 per annum. The deal involved a planning application to secure a change of use from offices.

Iain Taylor, of letting agents Ryden, said: “This latest letting to Drake Dental Care further adds to the diverse tenant mix within Commercial Quay. Along with securing this new tenant, we’ve also recently had existing occupiers such as Penna Plc and Cisco Systems renew their tenancy, showing that Commercial Quay continues to be a popular destination in Leith for businesses.”

Dr Biju Krishnan of Drake Dental Care commented: “We are delighted with the premises which will enable us to expand the practice and introduce more cutting edge dentistry for our patients."

Commercial Quay is a substantial 85,000 sq ft mixed-use property situated off Commercial Street in Leith.  The building, a Grade B listed former bonded warehouse, provides restaurant and retail premises at ground floor, with three upper levels of office accommodation at a variety of suite sizes.  Other occupiers include: Campbell & Arnott Architects, Paterson SA hairdressing, and award winning Michelin-starred restaurant, The Kitchin.

The property is owned by GE Real Estate who is investing £500,000 in the refurbishment of the office space.

Ryden and DTZ acted as joint letting agents on behalf of the landlord. Drake Dental Care was represented by Eric Young & Co.
