£2.4 million Paid for Shopping Parade
11 August 2008
A £2.4 million retail parade at Monk Bretton in Barnsley has been sold to Netto Food Stores. The discount Danish retailer has bought the five-unit shopping parade previously anchored by Kwik Save. Ryden represented sellers Thistle Property Group in the deal.
Netto will occupy 12,256 sq ft of the 14,912 sq ft property as part of their continued growth in the UK. Occupier interest in the property led to a competitive bidding situation with the sale exceeding the asking price.
Steven Harrison, senior surveyor at Ryden, said: "Budget supermarkets such as Netto are benefactors of the credit crunch. As they continue to expand, they bring encouragement to current retail investment market."
